When it comes to choosing the best Android phone for you, there’s a lot that needs consideration. From design to overall performance, here is what we liked in our review of the top 10 phones
1. Samsung Galaxy S20+ (2020)
The only one with two high-end models: The first being the more premium version with better camera features and a larger screen, but also the standard model. But, that’s not it – a good balance comes from this smartphone, which has a large 7.8-inch display, great battery life, and an excellent camera setup. It has many other interesting features. But at the same time, it costs $1,000 less than the entry-level model.
2. Apple iPhone 12 (2019)
The iPhone 12 is the first-ever phablet, which means it has three different sizes of displays. This one is 6.5 inches in size, which makes it a bit smaller compared to older iPhones and even some flagship offerings. Despite having this big display, the actual size is slightly larger, depending on weather conditions. And while the price is very low compared to its competitors, it still doesn’t come with much. You get almost all the same features as the previous version, such as the new MagSafe charging method and many more. Its main selling point is its bigger battery. Although the iPhone SE lacks those advantages, the difference can be easily forgiven if you don’t have any issues with power consumption or battery drainage, so it just stands out more in everyday use. It is quite easy to use but also allows customization and expansion. On the flip side, the iPhone 12 provides a unique experience with the M1 chip, allowing users a faster connection and lesser lag, as well as several changes in its security system. Apple claims that they have fixed the App Tracking Prevention issue, which was one of the last bugs appearing with their latest iteration. It will arrive early next year in both the US and Europe.
3. Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 20 5G (2020)
A modern, elegant smartphone, the Black color edition is a classic look. However, Xiaomi also offers another variant called Grey, which adds a beautiful pink color option. There are two editions of this device too, with a higher resolution screen. Their cameras are amazing, and this device has the Snapdragon 888 and 4GB RAM. In 2020, it launched with a 48GB storage but now it supports 64GB. We think it represents a true compromise between two companies: Xiaomi on the one hand, and OnePlus on the other. Because of its compact form, it is easy to hold but also let’s us say that, although there is only one body, the construction quality is high. Plus, it weighs not more than 50 grams and measures 9.1mm thick. The back panel is composed of a huge chin of glass, which means that, even when someone falls down, he can stay on his feet thanks to the incredible durability. Like most smartphones, it has no charger built in; instead, you need either USB-C or micro USB. Not only that, there’s a microSD slot that allows up to 32GB.
4. Realme C17 (2019)
The Realme C17 is a nice looking and powerful mid-range offering, but it’s missing an AMOLED screen, which doesn’t fit into the company’s vision. Unfortunately, there is no official support for Dolby Vision or HDR10 Plus content, which may be difficult to control. So, in terms of specs, this model seems weak, and it doesn’t deserve your attention and care. Nevertheless, even without the inclusion of these technologies, there are few problems, especially when it comes to user experience. But Realme has had a lot of success over the years, as it was recently awarded by NABE as “Best Chinese Phone Brand”.
5. Asus ZenFone X3 (2019)
The Asus ZenFone X3, the second member of the Realme lineups, isn’t as impressive as the others, but for a good price it is worth considering. It comes with 3 or 5G support, as well as NFC, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS. Additionally it includes a fingerprint scanner but, unfortunately, it can’t be used with real devices. As it could be said, I am impressed with the sound quality and performance of this device. That said, when you compare it with the rest of the company’s flagships, it is not the same. Even though it offers only 3GB RAM and 8GB to 128GB storage, you are not going to complain about the fact that it is a cheap handset. Just like the regular version, the ZenFone X3 gets four rear cameras, and the front camera for selfies. All the specifications are satisfactory – the processor is MediaTek MT6833 (which is already among the best chips), which means 2GB performance, and the RAM is 1GB but for 4GB, it goes up to 1GB. So, the result is adequate for daily use and gaming – neither of which matter most for gamers. At the moment, however, they can’t play the game Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. An OLED panel is available, but this isn’t a problem either because it remains quite small. Furthermore, it looks very promising, which would make you think twice.
6. Huawei P30 Pro Max (2019)
The newest addition to the Huawei family is P30. To start with, this is what you get – a massive 6.6-inch FHD display, an octa-core processor, 128GB of memory, and a fast UFS 2.1 SSD. What surprises me the most is the way this P30 Pro Max can deliver this hardware to a budget smartphone. With everything else, the appearance and feel of the device are identical to its predecessors. On the same base, we can expect a similar performance, but the RAM reaches up to 8GB, but then again, there are only 256GB of storage. Also, the lack of an optical zoom does not mean much. While the design is attractive, it is a little weird. The speakers are loud enough and the battery lasts for a day. A fingerprint scanner is included. The design is solid, but it does not match what everyone expects from a simple to carry. Well, there are also plenty of cameras and sensors, such as IR sensor, macro, depth, Night Mode, wide angle, and more. Unfortunately, we couldn’t test its video capabilities; unfortunately, it is based on a Exynos chipset. For a better experience, I think, you should visit the store and see if the sale is for you, otherwise I would consider upgrading to a Snapdragon 888-powered alternative.
7. LG G9 ThinQ 2 (2019)
The original model of the LG G9 came a long time ago, but thanks to newer generation, this version is even longer. Of course, this one is the highest-end model – the highest resolution, the largest screen, and the most RAM. The LG G9 also benefits from a Full HD + AMOLED display (a 15.9-inch one), but the main highlight is the fast processing speeds of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. Another significant factor is a large amount of RAM. Everything is possible when running on 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB, and, finally, a MicroSD card slot.
8. Motorola Moto Z Flex 5G (2019)
The Motorola Moto Z Flex 5G might seem like an odd device, but it actually shows how far technology will go. Thanks to an enormous battery, there is always a chance that it will run out of power. Due to its superior configuration with software updates, you may want to check the stock firmware before buying or waiting until after getting a full ROM. The device itself has a big 7.7-inch IPS screen, which is surprisingly good. And thanks to the great build quality, your device is going to stand out in terms of style. Indeed, this unit is currently the greatest value in terms of convenience and simplicity. Therefore, I think, most people will find it suitable for using and managing.
9. Apple iPhone 13 (2020)
The iPhone 13 is a truly exceptional smartphone. Thanks to the Apple brand, the current iPhones represent outstanding work. First of all, it has a 6.1-inch Super Retina LCD screen, the best resolution ever in the entire market. Thanks to the A15 Bionic chip, the iPhone 13 is faster and more reliable than any other iPhone you could have. It promises nearly double the speed and is able to handle over 30% more battery, making it perfect for any type of task. Besides, you are able to upgrade your device to a 5G compatible model. What makes this model a true wonder is the presence of a Face ID scanner, one of the fastest solutions on the market. The iPhone 13 gives users a whole new level of freedom.
10. Xiaomi Mi 11
The world champion of smartphones, Xiaomi is famous for its affordable prices, which means that you can choose a model that fits your budget. For example, the Xiaomi Mi 11 offers a starting price of RMB 39,990 with a variety of configurations. We can’t help admiring the overall design, the screen, and the powerful processor that this Xiaomi model allows to manage. Most probably, this model works fine for people who prefer simplicity and have no other requirements, at least for daily use. As for the spec, it is a combination of a Snapdragon 888. A 5G compatible model is more costly, but it will offer the same dynamic performance. Moreover, there are two colour options: Phantom Green and Midnight Black. Along with that, the MI11 is expected to launch soon, but there’s no word on its pricing yet.
